Summer 2014 myCourses Updates

On the morning of Wednesday, July 9th a series of minor updates were made to specific myCourses features. These updates have resulted in changes to two features that students use.

The two updates that students will notice are:
  • An updated My Grades page layout.
  • Students can receive an email alert whenever they receive a Course Message in myCourses.

Receive an email alert whenever you receive a Course Message in myCourses.

myCourses users now have the option of receiving an alert email in their Zimbra email inbox whenever they receive a Course Message sent to them within a myCourses site.

To enable Zimbra email notifications for new Course Messages:
  1. Click on your name in the upper-right corner of myCourses.
  2. Click on "Settings" at the bottom of the "My Blackboard" menu that pops down.
  3. Click "Edit Notification Settings."
  4. If you're an instructor, click on "Courses I am Teaching." If you area student, click on "Courses I am Taking."
  5. Check the "Email" check box to the far right of the row of notification settings that corresponds to "Course Message Received" (Image above.)

Updated My Grades page layout

New filters at the top of the My Grades page called “All,” “Graded,” “Upcoming,” and “Submitted” allow students to narrow down the number of graded submissions they see. The text size and row spacing have also been reduced, resulting in more information being displayed on the page at once. Instructor feedback has also been included right in-line on the My Grades page, so students doesn’t need to click on anything to view it – it just shows up on the page.
